Origins and evolution
Celebrating the 21st Century turn
As the Capital of Champagne, located in the heart of vineyards, Epernay is famous worldwide and welcomes visitors from all countries.
The Avenue de Champagne hosts the greatest Houses of Champagne and presents an outstanding heritage composed with mansion houses and buildings dating mostly back to the 19th century.
The first edition of Habits de Lumière was organized in December 2000 for the first time in order to celebrate the making of champagne entering the new Millennium. The idea was to enhance the Avenue with special events, lightening and unique decorations during one evening.
A can't-miss Event
This event has evolved and developed along the years, always keeping its original festivity spirit. While fireworks and animations are organized by the City, Champagne bars are set up in the Houses's yards, thereby presenting and enhancing the Champagne know-how and its local products.
Now the events last for the whole weekend, with new happenings such as culinary art on the Saturday and the vintage car parade on the Sunday.
Nearly 45,000 people are expected at this can miss event.
